Regulation of acyl-carnitine synthesis

Description

The carnitine palmitoyltransferase system is responsible for delivering long-chain fatty acids from the cytoplasm into mitochondria for oxidation. Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 (CPT1) catalyses the rate-limiting step of fatty acid oxidation, which plays an important role in lipid metabolism.
